Memorandum of understanding with the ministry of health
Within the framework of cooperation with civil society organizations.
Ministry of Health signed a memorandum of understanding with “Caritas Egypt” and “Shehab Foundation” to provide awareness to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS.
The Ministry of Health and Population, Monday, signed a memorandum of understanding between a ministry represented by the National AIDS Program and each of the (Caritas Egypt) and Al-Shehab Foundation for Development and Comprehensive Development, as part of the implementation to provide awareness to reduce the spread of human AIDS “AIDS” by 2030 and support the people who live with the virus and provide them with treatments they need.
The MOU was signed by the ministry, DR. Heba Al-Sayed, Director of the National AIDS Program, Counsellor Jamil Halim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Caritas Egypt, and DR. Youssef El-Sayed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Shehab Foundation for Comprehensive Development.
This came in the presence of DR. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives, DR. Mostafa Ghanima, Head of the Curative Medicine Sector at the Ministry, DR. Alaa Hashish, Infectious Diseases Officer at the World Health Organization Office in Egypt, and DR. Walid Kamal, Director of the UNAIDS Office in Egypt, in the presence of members The Scientific Committee for the National AIDS Program (DR. Amjad Al-Dhahabi, DR. Amin Abdel-Baqi, DR. Aisha Al-Sharqawi, and DR. Sherif Moussa).
- Khaled Mujahid, advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson of the ministry, explained that the memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen means of cooperation to implement various activities aimed mainly at reducing the spread of HIV among social groups, by reaching the most vulnerable people and providing awareness. In addition to supporting patients living with HIV and their families, this includes all aspects of preventive and curative support and the provision of all means of psychological and social support.
Mujahid indicated that awareness of HIV will be increased through holding seminars with different community groups with the aim of increasing citizens’ awareness of the Egyptian society about the disease.
Mujahid added that support will be provided to patients living with the disease by providing psychological assistance to them and their families, in addition to providing technical support by providing information and issuing and printing the necessary instructions to spread community awareness, to limit the spread of HIV.
For his part, DR. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Public Health Initiatives, explained the importance of the current role of civil society organizations and associations in contributing to spreading awareness with the aim of eliminating AIDS and viruses in general, by reaching the most vulnerable groups in cooperation with NGOs and coordinating fieldwork in This field, pointing to the Ministry’s endeavor, in cooperation with those institutions, to reduce the spread of human immunodeficiency virus (AIDS) by 2030.
