Who we are

Caritas is a Latin word that means charity

Caritas Egypt was established in 1967 as an emergency aid during the Arab-Israel conflict, in which, it had an official national NGO in November 1967 under the registration No.1150.Caritas is a public benefits organization with the Republican Decision number 266 in 1975.Caritas works through various sectors’ intervention programs as follows:

Caritas is currently in charge of the secretariat of the Egyptian Network for National Associations for AIDS Control (ENNAA) and is an elected member of the board of directors of the Arab Regional AIDS Network (RANAA).

We envision a society where values are shared and where in all people live in Justice and dignity. A world that is characterized by equality and tolerance regardless race, sex, religion and social status. A place where we care for the vulnerable people in our communities.

Caritas Mission

We strive for social change by respecting human rights principles. We build awareness, provide expertise and support vulnerable people and fragile communities. We empower them and create opportunities, so that they may realize their potential and participate in social, economic and cultural life. We work with local, national and international partners – civil society organization and governments alike – for sustainable development.

Caritas AIDS INTERVENTION UNIT (AIU)

One of the health-oriented programs is AIDS Intervention Unit (AIU) which was established in 1996 and since then, it has been involved in different AIDS related programs.Currently it has a substantial experience
