One of the health-oriented programs is AIDS Intervention Unit (AIU) which was established in 1996 and since then, it has been involved in different AIDS related programs. Currently it has a substantial experience in working with HIV infected and affected people as well as most-at-risk persons, of various age groups, in multiple settings, targeting males and females.Wherever the unit works in cooperation with the national program to combat AIDS, as well as with the concerned government, local and international authority.
It is screechy from those living with HIV, so the Intervention unit to combat AIDS in Caritas, Egypt, Alexandria, does help in reducing the stigma and the discrimination faced by people living with HIV.
The prevailing stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV increases the severity of the situation, and wastes human rights, and presents an impediment to their access to prevention, care, and support services.
Caritas Egypt, Alexandria AIDS Intervention unit aims to advocate the rights of PLHIV and combat stigma and discrimination against them, while achieving better understanding among different groups of society.
Most efforts to address stigma and discrimination are still small in size, there is a need for continuous advocacy to increase efforts to reduce stigma and discrimination directed to people, societies, organizations, and governments
